Bytel joins the Reigning Premiers

Collingwood has today finalised its squad for the upcoming AFL season, following the signing of three players through the Pre-Season Supplementary Selection Period (SSP).

Lachie SullivanJack Bytel and Josh Eyre have all put pen to paper, signing with the Pies for 2024.

A two-time Western Bulldogs’ VFL Best and Fairest, Sullivan established himself as a key midfielder throughout his time in the VFL system.

A member of the VFL Team of the Year in both 2022 and 2023, the 26-year-old averaged 30.9 disposals, 7.6 clearances and 5.9 tackles per game for the Bulldogs last year.

Drafted by St Kilda with pick 41 in the 2018 AFL Draft, Bytel went on to play 22 games for the Saints.  

The 23-year-old midfielder was delisted at the end of last season.

A tall utility, Eyre was elevated to Essendon’s VFL list in 2022 having been a part of the club’s Next Generation Academy.

The 21-year-old joined Collingwood’s VFL program last season and made nine appearances for the side, predominantly in the backline.

Eyre suffered a hamstring tendon tear during training last week. He will cotninue to progress post-surgery with an expected return to training in late April.

Collingwood’s EGM Football Graham Wright was pleased to welcome the trio on board.

“We’re pleased to offer Lachie, Jack and Josh and the final three list spots to complete our 2024 squad,” Wright said.

“The three have all impressed over this period and we believe they will complement our squad well.
