McKay’s double reward

Ben McKay’s impressive VFL form has been rewarded with a contract extension and an emergency listing for Saturday’s game against Hawthorn.

The young key forward has been given a new two-year deal, meaning he’ll be at the club until at least 2019.

North has been forced to change its selected line up, with Scott Thompson and Ben Brown failing to pass fitness tests on Friday morning.

Brad McKenzie and Ryan Clarke will come in to the selected side, while Corey Wagner, Joel Tippett and McKay will now be the emergencies.

McKay has had a solid year playing for North’s VFL affiliate, Werribee, booting 10 goals in his 12 matches to date. His defensive pressure around the ball has also been a standout for a tall.
