Sam Dunell elevated to Saints senior list

St. Kilda rookie Sam Dunell could be set to make his senior debut this week after he was elevated to St Kilda’s primary list on Thursday.

Dunell could line up for the Saints against the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night after an impressive first half of the season for VFL affiliate Sandringham.

The 22-year-old has been named in the best on six occasions this season with his best match coming in the round two win over North Ballarat where he booted five goals.

Dunell was rookie listed by St Kilda at the end of last year after standing out for VFL team Bendigo Bombers and VAFA club Old Melburnians.

A debut against the Lions would tie in nicely with his family history as his father Frank Dunell was a member of the Brisbane Bears’ inaugural team in 1987 after previously playing in Essendon’s 1984 premiership win. Read more…
