Sholl extends with Crows

Emerging Crows wingman Lachlan Sholl has extended his contract with the Club by a further two years, taking him through to 2024.

The highly-skilled 21-year-old who has twice been nominated for the AFL’s Rising Star Award in his 16-game career was already signed until 2022 but has now become the 10th player to recommit to the Club this year.

Sholl was drafted with Pick No.64 from the Calder Cannons in 2018 and developed his game in the SANFL before making his AFL debut in Round 10, 2020.

He played eight games last year and has played all eight so far this season, impressing with his workrate and elite kick on both sides of his body.

Despite not coming out of contract until the end of next season, Sholl said he was happy to re-sign for a further two years because of his faith in the direction of the team.

“I’m loving my time at the Crows and am excited by what the future holds,” Sholl said.

“We have a fantastic young group and terrific coaches who are helping me work on my game and it’s a great environment to be part of.”

Adelaide General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said Sholl was a terrific young player who typified what the Club is building.

“He has worked incredibly hard from the moment he was drafted, both at training and while developing his game in the SANFL, to the point where he is now more than comfortable at AFL level and is playing an important role for the team,” Reid said.

“For him to recommit to the Club before his contract is up and to become the 10th player to re-sign this year is a sign of the collective commitment across the group and we are very pleased.”
