BIO

With longevity in mind, Jack Bytel underwent back surgery at the start of 2019 to ensure a strong start to his career as a St Kilda player.

The Calder Cannons co-captain didn’t see any football action as a result, but has already earned a name for himself as a natural ball-winner, sturdy inside player and strong tackler throughout his limited outings in his draft year.

This season, Bytel has finally begun to accumulate game-time through the Saints’ scratch matches.

The highly touted draftee has been among the most consistent contributors in the reserves, with his inside pairing with Ryan Byrnes a standout each week.

Bytel made his long-awaited debut in Round 11 against Geelong, racking up 18 disposals and five clearances in his first senior outing in red, white and black.

Bytel was selected by St Kilda with pick No. 41 in the 2018 National Draft.
