Vickery becomes a Hawk

Hawthorn Football Club can confirm restricted free agent Ty Vickery will join the Hawks after Richmond Football Club decided not to match the club’s offer.

Vickery signed a two-year deal which will see him contracted until the end of the 2018 season.

In exchange for Vickery, Richmond will receive pick 26 in this year’s NAB AFL Draft.

Vickery joined the Tigers as their 1st Round selection (No. 8 overall) in 2008.

The 200cm key forward/ruck has played 119 career games since making his debut in 2009 and has kicked 158 goals.

Hawthorn Recruiting and List Manager Graham Wright said:

“We are excited that a deal could be reached and we look forward to welcoming Ty to the club.

“His ability to play both ruck and forward will be an extremely valuable asset making him a fantastic addition to our list.

“At 26 years of age Ty has plenty of football left to play and we look forward to seeing what he can produce at the Hawks.”
