Witts and Lyons to the Suns, McKenna a Dee

In a huge last day of the NAB AFL Trade Period, in which 25 trades were completed, three  of which were Phoenix clients who found new AFL Clubs.

Jarrod Witts joined the Gold Coast Suns from Collingwood FC. Standing at 209cm and 111 kg, Witts adds additional depth to the club’s ruck stocks joining inaugural big man Tom Nicholls and Dan Currie in the ruck division at the SUNS.

Jarrod was traded to the Suns in exchange for Pick #44 and #62.

Pat McKenna had been tracked by Melbourne since his days are Gisborne FC as an 18 year old. When the opportunity came to trade for him came, the Demons pounced.

The red and blue gained McKenna and pick No.51 and exchanged picks No.57 and No.59 to the Giants.

The 20-year-old – who has signed on with Melbourne for the 2017-18 seasons – was originally drafted by the Giants at pick No.23 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.

Jarryd Lyons enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Crows, averaging 21 touches in 20 games at West Lakes in 2016 establishing himself as a first-choice midfielder.

The SUNS exchanged selections 43 & 67 for the 24-year-old midfielder and selection 71, after Lyons officially requested a trade to the coast on Wednesday.
